O.C.A.

Meet Us

We at O.C.A. Benefit Services would love to meet you! We are committed to our client relationships, and it shows from the effort we put forth to ensure that our clients’ needs are professionally, courteously and personably satisfied.

About Our Company

If you are a first time visitor to the site and new to the HRA concept, we understand that it can be daunting to navigate through these changes.  It’s important to reinforce that your Plan is not hard to use, it’s just “different” and none of us like change.  That’s human nature.
I think you might be amazed if you use our link to the NJ State Attorney General’s Office located on this front page (simply click the blue bar labeled “NJ Drug Prices”) and compare the cost differential of the same medication from one pharmacy to another.  For the past 25 years we (the consumer) have been insulated from the cost if we paid a co-pay for our medications.  If we had a $20 co-pay, no matter where we purchased the drug we paid $20.  If we understood that the drug cost more than $20 most of us thought that the insurance company “paid” the rest of the cost, so why should we care where we go.  In reality, your employer and you share the cost in the premiums that you pay to your insurance company.  If you use our drug price comparison tool, you will notice that some medications have a variance of over 1,000% per pill from one store to another!  A 500MG Amoxicillin capsule recently ranged in price from $0.11 to $6.35 per pill.  Could you ever imagine paying $6.00 more per gallon of gas than you had to at a station right across the street?  Of course not, but in healthcare you have been removed from seeing prices for the past 25 years.  Health insurance is not the problem; it’s the cost of healthcare which is simply reflected in the cost of your insurance.

Again, our focus is on quality, so think about this.  Have you ever left your physician’s office with a handwritten prescription that you could not read?  More people die in the United States every year from an incorrectly filled prescription than die collectively from aids, breast cancer or auto fatalities.  Shame on this country for letting this happen when we have a cure for this issue simply called “common sense.”  Don’t ever go to a doctor’s office again without a pad and pen.  If your doctor writes out a hand written prescription have him/her spell it for you and you write down the name and the dosage.  When you pick up your prescription compare what you wrote down to what’s on the label.  It is that simple to save almost 100,000 lives a year, yet we have failed to communicate this message.  In this case, the life you impact may be your own or a family members'.

I would like to invite you to explore our company through our web site or feel free to email or call me directly to share any ideas you have that might enhance your experience with our services.  As the owner of the company I would especially like to hear your feedback both positive and especially negative so that we may continue to evolve and improve the process.

Best Regards,
Stephen S. Honig
President
